Spithead Reviews

The new HMS Natal took part in two Spithead Naval Reviews. The first was in 1909 and the second in 1911.  Spithead, the stretch of sea between the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth, was lined by the might of the British fleet. The fleet was reviewed by the King from the Royal Yacht.

These were great spectacles and were widely reported in the newspapers of the time.  The Times not only published articles, but also printed plans of the disposition of the ships.  Here are the plans as published in the newspaper for the 1909 and 1911 Spithead Naval Reviews.  HMS Natal can be made out on each plan:
